This week I wanted to get the dining and living room finished and they are pretty much there.  Here are a few before and afters!

Here is their (previous owners) old living and dining rooms…

We tried to get them to leave the little village of houses under the coffee table and the nutcrackers on the plant ledge but they wouldn’t have any of it…..too bad. haha

And here is the new (and hopefully improved) living and dining rooms:

With the sewing expertise of my “Nanna” we were able to cover all of the living room pillows with fun fabric!

This is the view when you come in through the front door and through the foyer (past the guest room and nursery).  The kitchen is on the left and the dining room is on the right followed by the living room which leads out onto the lanai (that’s floridian for screened in back porch – haha)  The red paint that was on all of the plant ledges is finally gone (I could not be happier!!) thanks to about 50 coats of primer and paint and the hard work of Graham and both of our dads!

This is our fun stick wall art that Graham and I made together a few nights ago!  Thanks to a $10 bunch of white sticks from IKEA and the genius idea of Jenny Reid (a friend from back home) who we totally stole the idea from!

Even though I am still a solid six weeks out from my due date I can’t help but have the feeling that this little one’s arrival could come at any time now.  We still have so much to get and do in order to be ready but every little step in preparation has helped to make it all seem more real.  We are so excited to meet this little guy or girl..now if only we could settle on a girl name. Agh!

Slowly but surely we have been putting together the nursery.  I know…its blue….before you start to think that we know something that we are just not telling anyone – the room was already this beautiful shade of blue and with all of the other projects that we had going on we decided that we could live with this color whether it ends up being a girl or a boy.

Most of all we wanted the room to be a relaxing place for us.  Lets be honest – this little baby is not going to care what color it is or how many decorations are up on the wall.  In the end, it is Graham and I who will be sitting in here at all hours of the night so we just wanted to make it a place that WE felt relaxed:)  We call the nursery theme “spa baby” – now it just needs a running water fountain and a masseuse! haha

If it is a boy we will accent the room with a nice dark cobalt-type blue and if it is a girl, a deep raspberry color!

Now for the pics of the nursery so far:

This is Higgins Bear – this was Graham’s stuffed bear that he carried around as a little boy.  It was hand made by a family friend – so cute!

Who will this little one look like??

baby04

One of my favorite shower gifts!  It even makes a real camera shutter sound when you press in the button!

These are fun a decals that we put up on a few walls of the room.  Sort of a contemporary dandelion sort of thing.

This one sits perched on top of the window:)

And possibly the cutest of all – these were given to me by my boss at JMU before I left.  ADORABLE!

And finally – people keep asking me if I have been craving anything during the pregnancy and honestly I haven’t had any real cravings at all. No late-night trips for ice cream and pickles (Graham has really gotten off easy with this one!)  But I have had a SERIOUS sweet tooth the past few weeks – pretty much craving candy every day. haha.  The most recent object of my affection has been this old classic:

Oh well – the worst that could happen is that this little baby comes out a little sweeter then most:)

Today’s project was to finish updating the guest bathroom.  This is the main bathroom used by guests that come to visit and is in between the nursery and guest room at the front of the house on the right. Ashlee was kind enough to come over and help with the touch ups and cabinet painting – praise the Lord for friends! Enjoy!

First a reminder of what the bathroom looked like when it belonged to the old owners…

And now…

One of our first priorities when we got into the house was to update the kitchen!  The country light maple cabinets just weren’t cutting it but we weren’t quite sure that we were up for the challenge of refinishing 29 kitchen cabinets and drawers.  Well, we are so glad that we did!  First lets start with what the kitchen used to look like! (These are pictures from the original listing with the previous owners sweet decos)

And here is our kitchen now!

Oranges…(they are fake!)

and our fun little orange rug at our sink.  Who would have known that I would love orange as an accent color??

Now on to the guest room…

This is the bedroom at the very front of the house.  It is the first one on the right when you come through the front door and it has a guest bath in between it and the nursery!  It still needs art and a headboard or some combination of the two but the bedding is off to a good start thanks to IKEA my new favorite store!  The walls of the room are a soft banana yellow and after all of our other painting projects we decided that we could live with this color instead of adding it to our list of rooms to paint:)

And finally, one of the other first big projects we tackled was the guest bathroom.   It still needs a few final finishing touch so I will only give you a teaser as to what it is going to look like when it is finished.

Here is what it looked like before:

And here is a little glimpse as to what it is becoming. (Hint: It is the same color as the accent wall in the kitchen – the color is called “wild truffle” and it is a dark grayish-brown)  I will post a full pic once we are done with it!

And yes – in the midst of it all, the belly is still growing by the minute!  We are 33 weeks along now!  Graham has made his prediction that the baby is going to come a few days early on July 1  and weigh 7 lbs 1 oz.   We will see if he is right!

Cochrane112

All in all, the past two weeks of our new life here have been crazy, fun and expensive. haha.  We are so excited to be in our own home and are looking forward to settling in to a new routine…well, at least for a few weeks until the baby comes and turns things upside down again!  We love and miss all of our family and friends in VA!  Come visit soon!

Finally!  After an endlessly frusturating series of weeks we are happily in our very first home!  Of course God was amazing in making this home a possibility for us when we though that many times it was not going to come together.  We have been here for two short week and thanks to the help of family and friends we are slowly but surely getting unpacked and getting the house put together.  It has been really fun for us to actually have our own place that we can decorate the way that we want!  I will be posting lots of before and after pics as we get each of the rooms done one by one.

Our new address is 5040 New Savannah Circle, Wesley Chapel, FL 33545
